How borrowing from outside your category can give your brand real distinction?

Introducing Ride & Grind Coffee.

A small Edinburgh based independent coffee brand borrowing inspiration from the automotive world.

Inspired by automotive tin oil cans, their distinctive packaging is a real cool breeze in the world of coffee.

A world awash with pouches, bags and boxes.

And paired with their colourful illustrative artwork, they’ve got some real pulling power amongst the jam packed coffee category.

But their approach is nothing new, nor is it a game-changer. But it’s an approach we think gives them an edge over the competition.

And that’s what we’re loving about Ride and Grind.

Besides their tasty coffee, distinctive packaging and colourful designs, borrowing inspiration from an outside category has allowed them to stand out in a crowded category space.

And despite being a small player, they’ve already caught the eyes of some big names.

With the likes of Selfridges and Harvey Nichols supplying those living in the fast lane looking for some rocket fuel coffee for their morning pick me up.

Ride & Grind is a brand riding in their own lane and they’re injecting a cool breeze of brand distinction into the coffee category, thanks to borrowing inspiration from a category outside of theirs.
